Who We Are
The cottages are owned and managed by husband and wife team Eamonn and Yvonne White both of whom are retired. Yvonne previously worked in finance and Eamonn was a builder.
Eamonn has also been a member of The Fiddlers Green festival Committee for over 20 years and as part of this festival he helped organise the opening event for the festival each year which was “THE DAN WHITES DANDER. This was a walk which followed the footsteps of a well known Shepherd “Dan White” (no relation) from his home in the heart of the Mourne Mountains to Rostrevor each week to collect provisions. The festival event takes the walkers from Dan White’s home in Kilfeaghan to a clearing in the forest above Rostrevor known as The Fiddlers Green for music and a picnic. This walk is very popular and attracts hundreds of people each year.
In 2010 Eamonn and Yvonne had the opportunity to purchase Dan Whites homestead and in 2014 they completed the 1st stage of the renovation and opened Dans Whites as a self catering cottage in December 2014. It was so popular that they decided to renovate the other buildings and they were completed in 2016 and are known as Pat Whites and Mary Larkins. Named after Dan’s brother Pat and Eamon’s mother who was known locally as Mary Larkin. The buildings were previously used as a cart shed and barn.
